The Human Resources’ profession is generally a profession siding with conservatism, mainly due to the fact that many business owners are considered to be ‘conventional’ and most HR professionals are in the game to support the business owner…even if the business owner is ‘reputed’ to be ‘progressive’. Again, my problem with Trump is not his politics, even though I may disagree with many of his positions; it is with his demeanor and behavior.
I think it is a general consensus among liberals/progressives that Trump has an aversion to Obama (and any other ‘black’ that deigns to achieve what Obama achieved) and he has a mission to change/alter many of the liberal/progressive policies that Obama helped implement. I think he is doing this because of his megalomaniacal bent and the fact that he ‘can’.
I know that the Affordable Care Act has been a thorn in the Republicans’ side. I think due to the fact that a black man caused it to happen; and I am not saying that all Republicans are racist. I’m saying that many Republicans may not realize how racist they really are. Trump has wanted the ACA repealed from the beginning and he placed a directive to Congress to get this ‘done’. It did not get done by the means intended (normal legislation), therefore, bits and pieces of the Health Care Act have been picked apart by Executive Order or by other, non-conventional legislation. However, it is still going strong and a number of individuals are still covered by it even though Trump did all he could to reduce the marketing of the plan and to shorten the sign up period. He did this because he ‘could’.
Trump campaigned on a promise of expanding ‘jobs’…but, unemployment has been steadily dropping for the past eight (8) years to a ‘true’ unemployment rate (please see past BLOG’s on this topic)…meaning, that there are very few people who want a ‘job’ that can’t get one. He wants to blatantly erase any Obama era (or former laws/orders) that blocked employment, however, there are many reasons for environmental regulations, not the least of which is the country’s continued safety or the safety of its indigenous and immigrant communities (meaning all native Americans and anyone else that lives in this country that was formed by ‘immigrants’). Therefore, we are slowly losing any protections for our health and environment due to Trump wanting to show that ‘he can do it’ and by Trump’s megalomaniacal need to autocratically dictate policy.
